Holiday Gift Ideas 2008
Somehow it went from "It's too early to talk about Christmas" to "OMG, it is almost Christmas!" How did this happen? No matter what winter holidays you celebrate, it is time to start checking gifts off of your list. Here are some ideas to help you out!
For Baby:

For the newborn in your life, go organic and choose from Hip and Little's girl rabbit or super cuddly unisex rabbit doll - both are just $15. Or give the gift of baby's first doll, also organic and only $11. Another wonderful gift choice for a newborn is Swaddle Spa baby massage oil ($16).
New classics for baby available through Amazon:
For toddlers and preschoolers:

What better way to teach your little one her letters than a monogram Tshirt of her very own?
I love these fun custom capes from Panjo!
And Oh My Gosh, somebody buy this doll for me! (Um... I mean, for my daughter. That's right.)
This robot Tshirt is pure awesomeness.
What I'm buying for the kids through Amazon this year:
For Grown-Ups:
This lotus pendant is just lovely.
This cute necklette looks super cozy!

Tease their brains with a wooden puzzle.
On my own Amazon wish list!
Have fun shopping! And don't forget to check out the Hip and Little gift guide for baby, toddler, preschooler and pregnant mama gifts!

Stock Up that Play Kitchen
If your little one scored a play kitchen for Christmas (or you are just tired of the old plastic fake food), it is time to see the awesome toy food and accessories out there! Be warned: shopping for play food is way more fun than shopping for the real stuff.

Oompa.com has a great selection of wooden play food from Haba. Fruit, veggies, bread, cheese and meats round out the food groups. Have you see this ingenius egg that really cracks?

SO cute. Haba also makes tons of cute tins filled with little wooden snacks. There are even little shopping bags, aprons and adorable dishes. Irresistible!

Speaking of irresistible, check out the great play kitchen stuff at LandofNod.com. Their felt fruits and veggies look good enough to eat! Or make yummy pizza with all the toppings:

Land of Nod also has some hip retro kitchen decor, 50's style table & chairs, and a fabulous toy sushi set.
If you don't already have a play kitchen, take a look at this cool red one:

at Pottery Barn Kids, or this one:

at Target, or this one:

Made by KidKraft available at BabyAge.com.
Have fun shopping (and cooking!).

ebaby!
Ebay has gone way beyond the old days of oddities and collectibles, and though the rush of retail power sellers can get obnoxious sometimes, it is exciting to see many creative and crafty women selling adorable baby items now! Here are a few that beg to be shared.

Little Pig Studios has a wide variety of adorable prints that would look precious in a baby's nursery. I love how they come in themed sets, so you can easily coordinate artwork and pull the room together.

Waldorf dolls, such as this one, are handmade with love and super cuddly for little ones!

Ebay is also a great place to find baby quilts. The one pictured is an antique, but there are also tons of new selections that will also become heirlooms someday.

Don't have a grandma that knits? Don't worry - there are many knitters out there who make beautiful baby sweaters, hats and tiny booties!

Free Online Games for Preschoolers
After a fun day at the beach or the park this summer, my 3 year old needs to wind down a bit. I've found these fun games for him to play online - all completely free!

Fisher Price has online games for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. If your child is at the bang-on-the-keyboard stage or is a wizard at the mouse, there is something for her here. Our faves include "Learn your shapes and colors" and "Learn your ABCs".

Nick Jr has tons of cute games if you don't mind the TV tie-ins. I totally dig the "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy" build-a-robot game. Of course, Dora and Diego hang out there, too!

Noggin has a few of the same characters as Nick Jr., but adds some great selections from the wacky The Upside Down Show and the adorable Pinky Dinky Doo.

Also check out Playhouse Disney for some games with favorite characters. My son loves Little Einsteins, Tigger & Pooh, and those cute monkeys Ooh and Aah. Oh! And don't forget Charlie and Lola. Soooo cute!

PBS Kids has Sesame Street, Curious George and Clifford games. There are also tons more Sesame Street games on their own site. The Sesame Street site is very easy to navigate for beginning computer users. Both sites have printables as well as games.

Learn reading skills at Starfall. Preschoolers can start out with the ABC letter sounds area. Then as your child grows up, he can try the more advanced stories.
